Spanish Community Center: Over 50 Years of Bilingual Education and Essential Aid

Serving East Joliet since 1969, the Spanish Community Center provides comprehensive social, legal, and educational services to low-income families and immigrants. From certified bilingual pre-K to weekly food pantry hours, the center supports thousands of residents striving for a better quality of life.

Located at 309 N. Eastern Avenue in Joliet, the Spanish Community Center (SCC) has served as an open door for diverse working families for more than half a century. Welcoming residents of all backgrounds, the center operates a licensed, research-based early childhood education program that prepares children ages 2 to 5 for kindergarten success.

Beyond early education, SCC provides bilingual case management, housing advocacy, English as a Second Language (ESL) courses, and accredited immigration and citizenship legal consultations. Its weekly food pantry serves hundreds of local households each month, including dedicated morning hours for seniors and residents with disabilities.
