Police personnel, local businesses, organizations and residents help make Joliet’s Santa’s Cops program possible. Their contributions support holiday shopping for children selected through community organizations. This spotlight recognizes the people giving their time and resources to the tradition.
Santa’s Cops brings together Joliet police personnel and community supporters around a shared purpose: helping children enjoy the holidays.
In its official description of the December 7, 2024 event, the Joliet Police Department credited personnel and community donors with funding the program. It also thanked sworn personnel, professional staff, volunteers and Walmart employees for their participation.
Children are selected through schools, social service agencies, churches and youth organizations, according to the department.
Independent coverage documents the tradition continuing in December 2025, when Joliet Patch reported officers volunteering to accompany children on a holiday shopping trip.
The recognition belongs to the people behind that effort: those contributing money, organizing participation and spending time with children.
