Civic toolkit
Know who handles what
Learn the difference between city, township, county, state, and federal responsibilities.
Separate governments, separate responsibilities.
A township supervisor, a state senator, and a member of Congress are not the mayor’s managers. Their governments have different powers and boundaries.

Township and county
These are distinct jurisdictions. Match the resident’s address and the specific service to the correct public body.
State and federal offices
Use an official address lookup to identify legislative districts and elected officials. School and special districts may add other representatives or services.
