The Joliet Technology Center decision

In March 2026, the council approved conditional annexation of roughly 795 acres associated with the proposed Joliet Technology Center. NBC Chicago reported an 8–1 vote, with Suzanna Ibarra opposed.

The city’s procedural notice confirms a public hearing closed March 16, before the March 19 vote. Concerns about capacity and access should be examined through the actual meeting record. Approval is not a statement that the whole campus has been constructed.
